The Student Department of Dental Pediatrics started working in 2016 concurrently with the establishment of the School of Dentistry, and before that, the Department treated pediatric patients in operating room under anesthesia.

The faculty members of the Department are constantly seeking to train students in such a way that the meetings between children and would-be dentists are more enjoyable than in the past and children's fear of dentistry is reduced to some extent through appropriately learned behaviors, in this way, the observance of oral hygiene can be started from childhood.

Training dental students in preventing dental injuries and psychologically handling pediatric patients along with offering other specialized and behavioral training, so that the would-be dentists will manage pediatric patients, especially in unprivileged areas, appropriately, and also will be able to treat children with cerebral palsy, mental retardation, autism, etc. under anesthesia.

1) Examining the clinical conditions of various methods of tooth decay prevention;

2) The effect of various behavioral control methods on improving child cooperation; and

3) Investigating the prevalence of different types of null occlusion and oral habits in different regions.
